Pakistani Wedding Vancouver - Areeba and Ahsan

Areeba and Ahsan’s celebrated their abundant love at their beautiful backyard wedding in Coquitlam and Surrey British Columbia. This was an intimate event hosted at the bride and groom’s residences. Areeba was a vision in her red gown and veil, spangled with gold embroidery and glistening sequins.

To begin the day, Areeba and Ahsan shared their first look on the quiet outdoor patio. As they smiled brightly and held each other’s hands, I could see the sheer excitement they shared to spend the rest of their lives together. The bride and groom opted to keep their first dance private, enjoying some alone time before guests arrived for the big celebration.

The Pakistani couple had their formal Nikah ceremony performed three years prior, and this day acted as the Ruskati (Reception). As a pleasant surprise for Ahsan, his friends arrived at his home for a good old fashioned cigar session in their sharp suits and ties. Ahsan’s twin brother Hassan stood by his brother’s side, just as he has in so many hockey games the two have coached and played in together. Ahsan and Hassan have always bonded over their love of sports, so we couldn’t miss the opportunity to get some shots of Ahsan in front of his favourite Vancouver Canucks jerseys!

Rings exchange and formal family photos were taken before heading to the reception, which is traditionally hosted by the bride’s parents at their home. This intimate gathering of friends and family had a warm and inviting essence to it, as everyone felt close-knit and connected throughout the reception. Both the bride’s brother and the groom’s brother offered beautiful, heartfelt speeches that flooded the room with emotions. Ahsan’s grandfather recited original poetry he had composed for this special day, a unique and thoughtful gift that was appreciated by all. Continuing with the festivities, the bride and groom cut their cake made of adorable cupcakes. Dinner was a spectacular home-cooked meal, made by the Areeba’s mother.

Areeba and Ahsan are undoubtedly blessed with a remarkably loving family. They bid farewell to their families and left for Whistler as bride and groom to begin the rest of their lives together. Capturing the intimate moments of this unique homestyle wedding was a truly rewarding experience for me. I wish Areeba and Ahsan the happiest moments, and the adventures of a lifetime.
